A PTFE-lined reducer is a specialty pipe fitting to connect two pipes of different diameters with high chemical resistance and flow efficiency. It consists of an internal lining of Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE)—a non-reacting, corrosion-resistant substance—and is therefore ideal for use in industries handling aggressive chemicals, acids, or high-purity chemicals.PTFE-lined reducers are used in general application in chemical processing, pharmaceuticals, food and beverage, and water treatment plants. The PTFE lining prevents the process fluid from contacting anything other than the inert surface, reducing contamination and prolonging equipment life. Two general categories of PTFE-lined reducers exist: concentric, whose centerlines are the same, and eccentric, where they are not—both tailored for specific flow applications. They serve an important role generally in maintaining system integrity, maximizing flow transition, and providing a safe and effective operation within adverse industrial processes.
